EUA Statement ahead of budget

6th Mar 2017

Ahead of the Budget, leading trade association, the Energy and Utilities Alliance (EUA), is calling on the Chancellor to create long term security for its members and an affordable and sustainable future for the UK.

Isaac Occhipinti, Head of External Affairs at EUA, said:-

We are acutely aware that major policy changes under the current government are yet to be revealed, but we call on Phillip Hammond to take the necessary steps to make the UK’s energy affordable, sustainable and secure.”

“We have identified three key steps the Chancellor could take in his Budget, that require little or no Government spending but can benefit consumers in the UK. They are:-

  • Maintain or increase the differential between diesel and gas duty, to assist the deployment of gas powered commercial vehicles
  • Commitment in ECO3 for the provision of first time central heating systems as a means of tackling fuel poverty
  • Long term funding for biomethane in the non-domestic RHI to ensure its long term potential in the green gas arena is realised.

The Budget is a chance to support our members and the public at large to enjoy an energy secure, sustainable and affordable future.”
